The Bree Street Block Party Makes its Debut

Cape Town has been known to throw the odd party here and there… pretty much every other weekend to be exact. This weekend is no exception. As Summer says it’s very last goodbye, La Parada Tapas Restaurant & Bar, Arcade and HQ have pulled together to host a Bree Street Block Party. The Esteemed Bree Street

A street like no other in the country, Bree Street is not only architecturally inspiring, it is also lined with the hippest bars and gourmet restaurants. Foodies beware, this street offers more than any single person can handle in one day. The unapologetic edible paradise is home to the likes of Bacon on Bree, The Royal Eatery and the Honest Chocolate Café.

Calling on Zomato

Experienced foodies however, would do well to bow to the superior knowledge of Zomato in situations such as these – where there is an utterly overwhelming selection of eateries and not enough hours in the day to try them all.

So with the help of this handy app, we present a top 15 list of Bree Street restaurants…

1. Chef’s Warehouse and Canteen

2. The Velvet Cake Co.

3. Kloof Street House

4. The Short Market Club

5. Burger and Lobster

6. Honest Chocolate Café

7. Royal Eatery

8. South China Dim Sum Bar

9. Smak

10. Jason Bakery

11. Bacon on Bree

12. The Villiage Idiot

13. Hemelhuijs

14. Giulio’s Café

15. Addis in Cape

Bear in mind that these are based on user ratings and all of these restaurants are rated above 4 out of 5 stars. With such a generous selection you are destined to find a spot that suits your mood and your palate.

Shopping on Bree

For those who are always on the lookout for the latest coolest designer accoutrements, we recommend shopping at Bree Street’s Missibaba for epic handmade jewellery, Avoova for handcrafted African gifts, and Skinny laMinx for homeware, screen-printed fabric and paper goods.

When you get back to your room at the end of a long day, you will be so glad you chose Taj Cape Town. When it comes to luxury accommodation, Taj raises the bar. Only 450 meters away or a short five-minute walk from Breet Street, Taj offers spa treatments, gourmet food and artisanal cocktails for those with a taste for the finer things in life. Explore New Décor Trends at Decorex 2017

Established in 1994, Decorex is the annual seminal African interior design exhibition which sees industry experts sharing ideas, influences and designs, which set the stylistic tone for the coming year. This year Decorex will be held at the Cape Town International Convention Centre from the 27th to 30th of April 2017. Guests will be able to peruse the halls and everything else the exhibition has to offer between 10 am and 6 pm daily. Tickets are available through Computicket, with prices ranging from R20 (for children under 12), up to R95 for adults.

This Year’s Theme

Seasoned Decorex visitors will know that each year the exhibition is given a theme. The Decorex 2017 theme is, ‘Make Your Space Your Living Dream’, based on the desire for a space void of tech-powered noise. Dylan Thomaz – Designer Spotlight Invitee, brings with him an enthusiasm for sensory stimulation. He believes that by incorporating textures and greenery, we can counter the effects of long work days spent touching electronics and staring at flat screens. Visitors can expect to see an increased use of natural fabrics, quality products and revitalising tones.

Decorex Highlights

Housing over 200 exhibitors, Decorex is a must for interior designers, industrial designers, architects and home-makers. Trends will be embodied by furniture, wallpaper, paint, fabrics and all manner of accompanying décor accessories. Home and décor styling concepts will be shared through series of talks and demos on décor and DIY.

Decorex as a Platform for Business Networking

Friday the 28th of April will see experts in the décor, design, architecture, hospitality and retail industries network with both exhibitors and visitors through the complimentary Trade Business Programme. This platform provides a dedicated trade lounge to approved trade members where they can meet face-to-face.

What Else Can You Expect

Catering for those with a taste for the finer things in life, guests can peruse the market furnished with vendors selling a vast collection of arts, crafts and handmade lifestyle goods for at the market. In addition, the exhibition will provide live music to ensure an effervescent atmosphere.
