KAMERS/Makers Gears up for Cape Town

KAMERS/Makers is South Africa’s official treasure trove of handcrafted creativity. Far from the trappings of the mass produced and the marginal, KAMERS is a showcase of authentic South African design, fashion, jewelry, décor, food, wine and so much more! This pop-up market takes place from the 24th to the 28th of May 2017 at the Castle of Good Hope. Between 9:00 am and 17:00 pm market goers can take a stroll and ogle some of the most unique and lovingly crafted products South Africa has to offer.

KAMERS/Makers: 15 Years on and Still Going Strong

A market lover’s paradise, KAMERS/Makers is in its 15th year of showcasing the unique work of South African crafters and creatives. A shopping experience like no other, tickets for this event are available from only R60 for students and pensioners, up to R240. Items are hand-picked by the KAMERS/Makers team for their ‘perfectly imperfect’ aesthetic. This is a beautiful platform for young designers to gain exposure while selling their work to appreciative connoisseurs. The ambitious exhibitors are also given the opportunity to mingle with like-minded creatives to inspire one another and compete creatively.

More Than a Market

Of course, no market is complete without the taste bud swelling artisanal delicacies and good wine! Add to the mix great entertainment and you have yourself a great day out. KAMERS/Makers guests can expect to watch live music acts like, Capetonian sister duo – The Betsie Beers, violinist – Hezron Chetty, multi-instrumentalist – Emile van Dango’s Yellow House and all girl band – Heroine.

Cashless Convenience

Partnering with ABSA, KAMERS/Makers introduced a cashless system in 2015. For the convenience of both traders and customers, this system allows market goers to use their credit and debit cards at stalls for food and the various goods on sale. Those who prefer to shop with cash can load money onto their KAMERS/Makers shopping cards to enjoy its speedy tap and go functionality.

While you take a leisurely stroll through the KAMERS/Makers pop-up market, our dedicated team at Taj Cape Town will be fluffing up pillows, polishing cutlery and lighting candles to ensure your stay is nothing less than exceptional. Taj is just a short nine-minute walk from the Castle of Good Hope where KAMERS/Makers is being held. Hungry guests can choose between Mint, the Local Grill and the Bombay Brasserie for a gourmet meal, or The Twankey Bar for a well-earned craft beer or decadent cocktail.
