Cape Town inner city has become part of the Big 7, joining the top tourist attractions such as, Cape Point, Robben Island, Groot Constantia, Table Mountain, Kirstenbosch and the V&A Waterfront. The Big 7 City Walk  connects the city by bringing the public spaces to life, and offering organised walking tours.

The monthly City Walk Saturdays event is scheduled to continue every third Saturday of the month from 10h00 – 14h00, right through winter, and will take place next, on the 20 June. It is an opportunity for community and creative projects to use the public space of the inner city to showcase their work, using their collective presence to draw citizens into the city, in turn allowing Capetonians to reimagine what our urban environment can be.

Enjoy live performances, giant jenga, chalk-drawing  and other interactive games with your family and friends.  Taj Cape Town is the perfect base from which to enjoy a special offering on the day, explore authentic Cape Town and experience the new City Walk route.

St. George’s Cathedral is the oldest cathedral in Southern Africa and the mother church of the Anglican Diocese of Cape Town. A gorgeous example of Victorian era design with magnificent stained glass windows, lies on Wale Street, opposite the main entrance to Taj Cape Town, and is known as ‘the people’s cathedral’ because of its role in the resistance against apartheid.

The roof of St George’s Cathedral is in a serious state of disrepair and the church is embarking on a global appeal to raise the $2 million / R25 million to have it repaired.
“The Under One Roof” campaign appeals to individuals the world over to contribute by purchasing tiles online at $10 / R125 per tile. Each purchase will be commemorated with a unique tile number in your name, recognising your contribution to history.

Beneath the famous historic St. George’s Cathedral lies The Crypt Jazz Restaurant, Cape Town’s unique venue offering an assortment of live Jazz acts.
